Some of the rapper Keak Da Sneak’s fans were in total shock after seeing him in a wheelchair recently and they began wondering what happened to the Oakland musician in 2023.
The Oakland rapper is best known for his songs Super Hyphy, Keep It on the Real, I Don’t Wanna Go, and more. The 45-year-old has come a long way in his music career, since starting out in the early ’90s.
Most recently, the musician met with fellow rapper YG. The two shot a video together which the latter posted on his Instagram.
Watching the two rappers together made many fans happy, but a few others were shocked to see Kean da Sneak in a wheelchair.
“Damn I never knew Keak Da Sneak was in a wheelchair!” one fan wrote after seeing his latest picture.
“What the hell happened to Keak ?” another fan wrote.
“I’m late asf since when is keak da sneak in a wheelchair,” a third person said.
Why is Keak Da Sneak in a wheelchair?
Keak Da Sneak, whose real name is Charles Kente Williams, was a victim of two shootings in 2017. The rapper survived both shootings but the second one left him in a wheelchair.
In his 2019 DJVlad interview, the rapper revealed he was shot eight times at a Richmond gas station. The injuries left the rapper in a wheelchair. The musician revealed that the first bullet grazed his face. “I got hit three or four times in the arm,” he said, showing the marks on his hand. He also revealed that he was shot in his torso and chest.
The rapper further shared that the doctors couldn’t tell him what the future held: “The doctors couldn’t tell me if I’d ever walk again but they did tell me you got a lot of hope.”
Talking about the progress in his rehabilitation, the star said, “I can do a lot that I couldn’t do from that day.”
The musician also shared that he was not paralyzed from the waist down, as many fans think.
He survived a separate shooting earlier the same year.
Furthermore, Okay Player notes that the Bay Area legend had to use a colostomy bag and a catheter, and required nurse care in addition to the wheelchair following the incident.
Despite the challenges that come with being confined to a wheelchair, Keak da Sneak’s passion for music remains untouched.
Rapper YG and Keak Da Sneak recently shot a music video
Both YG and Keak posted about their recent meet-up on their respective Instagrams.
The duo met up for a video shoot. Both YG and Keak look excited as they shake hands with each other and hype each other up.
Just last week Keak posted a video featuring YG on his Instagram page. The two are seen filming along with Tyga.
From the looks of it, fans have something exciting to look forward to from these rappers.
What Oakland rapper been up to since the shooting
The Oakland native has been performing and attending social events regularly since his shooting incident.
His Instagram shows him attending several parties, concerts, and musical gatherings. He is seen performing his heart out at these places.
He also went on a short tour recently named The Hyphy Era tour.
Moreover, he also came out with an album named Drugs, Rap & Violence, in association with Gooch Gang and Kaliban in 2018. He made two EPs in 2019 – Cali Love as well as Lean and Cookies.
In 2020 he released his album Gorilla which featured songs like Unpaid Debts & Broken Promises, Check It Out and more. The very next year he came out with Selfmade: The Album.
