As we gather to bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we reflect on her life of love, generosity, and unwavering faith. Born on May 7, 1933, in Satin, TX, to Cruzita Vasquez and Florencio Guerra, Sarah’s journey was one marked by compassion, resilience, and a profound devotion to her family and community. Sarah’s life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. On September 20, 1952, she married the love of her life, Alejo “Alex” Chavez, embarking on a journey of shared dreams, joys, and challenges.
Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, weathering life’s storms with unwavering devotion to one another. Their marriage was a beacon of strength and resilience, inspiring all who knew them and serving as a shining example of enduring love and commitment. As a homemaker, Sarah’s greatest joy was caring for her family and creating a warm and welcoming home. She was a talented cook and an exceptional seamstress, crafting beautiful garments for her children with love and precision. Her home was a sanctuary of love and hospitality, where laughter echoed in every corner, and the aroma of her delicious meals filled the air. Sarah’s culinary creations brought joy to all who tasted them, and her legacy of love lives on in the cherished memories of shared meals and family gatherings. Sarah’s faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through life’s trials and triumphs with unwavering trust in God’s plan. She was a devoted member of St. Francis Catholic Church and an active participant in the Guadalupanas society, where she found strength and solace in fellowship with her faith community. Her deep spirituality was evident in her daily life, as she sought to live out her faith through acts of kindness, compassion, and service to others.
Throughout the years, Sarah developed a keen sense of fashion, with her signature style characterized by perfectly coordinated outfits and matching jewelry. She took great pride in her appearance, always dressing to impress, whether she was cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, or Baylor Bears. Sarah’s love of sports was infectious, and she cherished the opportunity to gather with family and friends to watch the game, sharing in the excitement and camaraderie of the moment. Despite her love of fashion and sports, Sarah’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She delighted in watching her garden bloom with vibrant flowers, spending hours admiring their beauty and sharing stories with her loved ones. Sarah’s presence brought warmth and light into the lives of all who knew her, and her love knew no bounds. She was a generous soul, always eager to give of herself and share her blessings with others.
