Mel Callahan Obituary, Death Cause – The death occurred on Friday, November 24, 2023, of Melvin “Mel” Wesley Callahan, who was 80 years old and lived in Jefferson City, Missouri. It was on February 21st, 1943 when he was born. It was at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City on March 1, 1964 that he and Rose Alice Manley exchanged their vows and became husband and wife. Her passing occurred on February 9, 2020, which was before to his. Thelma Jean “Jeannie” Bias Redmon was Mel’s wife, and they tied the knot on January 22, 2022.
She passed away on November 12, 2023, the same day that Mel did. In 1961, Mel received his diploma from Sullivan High School, which is located in Sullivan, Missouri. The Missouri Baptist Convention Press ended up hiring him for the position. Mel happily served in the United States Army after voluntarily entering in 1966. He was released with honor in January 1970, having successfully attained the rank of sergeant during his time in the military. After returning to his previous position at the Missouri Baptist Convention Press, Mel went on to become a member of a local carpenters union, from which he eventually retired.
In addition to that, he was the department chaplain for the Cole County Fire Protection District all during his career. Some of the things that he is involved in include providing assistance to prison ministries, being a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA), providing assistance to disaster relief efforts when they are required, and being on the board of directors for the Helping Hands Food Pantry found in St. Elizabeth. Mel had a significant influence on the whole world around him, and the people whose lives he touched will always remember the love and generosity he showed them.
